Sudden death

Sudden death

Heart’s ticking like a time bomb, thoughts swiveling in the mind; screaming like the people in a giant wheel do, prayers floating on the air everywhere as if a million feathers have been spared by a giant invisible bird… the scene is filthily vicious.

The results of the last semesters are to come.

This oxymoronic moment is unique in its own way. The uncertainty, the deception that springs in the air deserves an appreciation, deserves some words to be inscribed on the stone. So be it.

Slumber… Slumber… Slumber

I lay on my back day dreaming…

Of El Dorado, of my love in my arms singing

When suddenly foxes started to growl

Around my ears, Invisible, but scathing my soul.

Furious, I wake up from the trance sweating

To find the foxes turn into my friends; howling

What’s wrong with you guys, I inquire

As they pay back a heinous stare…and declare:

Results are going to be out tonight!!!

As if free falling from a thousand kilometers high

My heart at once, pounces from my mouth to the thigh

Hoards of thoughts start quivering my mind

As if bats set free from a cave in the wild.

It …It will be fine. Bu….t whattt if …

My heart tells me to delve into optimism

While the brain instinctively, forces my mind into sarcasm.

Every single moment seems like a year to pass by

As if I am walking on a thin rope, below which a live volcano lie.

Prayers start flowing from the earth to heaven

With a hope to make the whole game even

And then… the www is sought for

Fingers crossed, eyes squinting in front of the computer

Deep breaths start gushing… in and out.

Huhhh… huhhh… huhhh…

And then the website unfurls

Eyes wide open, scrutinizing the bars

What the…Whoo said that…

Finding nothing related to the results there

A gush of relaxed wind bursts into the air

Tension turns into an ephemeral jubilation

As adrenalin stops and heart beats get back to common.

Life back to normalcy, I pledge to enjoy

As to study is humdrum, a film with no ploy

Semesters seem like a distant affair

Conquerable with a 15 day maneuver

Rumors will remain rumors… relax.

Back to sleep.

Slumber… Slumber… Slumber…

"the foxes growling ....."
that was a gud comparision.
U just made me feel the tension

the introduction of foxes was really eerie.
it added a unnatural effect to the scene and kept the poem interesting
